“God rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in His majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
- Deuteronomy 33:26-27
During the six week “Why” series, we asked some very important questions about God’s claims in the Bible and through His Son, Jesus Christ. If I believe God is my creator and I am living in a sinful, fallen world, then I also must believe that bad things can and do happen to us all. It is during the miscarriages of our babies, loss of employment, tragic car wreck involving massive brain damage for my 18 year old kid brother, hurtful words, cancer, death, and uncertainty that I cling to the security of my Heavenly Father. Do I come through these trials without confusion and anger? No, I have frequently had to ask God to forgive me for my doubts and thank Him for sustaining me when I don’t understand why. When I’m in the mist of an ordeal, I try to write down my thoughts and how God helped me. When the next bad time happens, and I know that it surely will, I can look back and remember how faithful God was, is and always will be. If the pain is too fresh and deep to feel God’s presence, then I wait on Him.
For every hectic day, God is my quiet rest.
For every painful experience, He is my healing touch.
For every disappointment, He is my certain hope.
For every turbulent storm, He is my calming peace.
For every hurtful action, He is my forgiving love. – Ray Lessin
Bible Reading: Hebrews 12:1-12
Thank You for Your predictable love and faithfulness especially during the unpredictable valleys. Use each day to build my faith and character. I will rely on Your protection and guidance. Amen
